WHAT IF WEDNESDAY at Repeat Impressions

Wendy, owner of Repeat Impressions gives us a sketch challenge by saying "What if I gave you this sketch, what would you do?"  So for this week, here is her sketch.
So here is my take on the sketch
I did this in watercolors using the stamp called Dandelion Breeze, Grass Border and Find beauty....  I used watercolors to color the stamped image and matted it.  I cut the little circle from a little circle card die.  It will be easy to add my name.

Now, why don't you take up Wendy's challenge?  Just make a project, using her sketch and link it on her blog, The House That Stamps Built.  Who knows - you could be the randomly drawn name for a nice gift certificate from Repeat Impressions.

Deonna's Designer's Choice Challenge

Today, Deonna, one of the Repeat Impressions Rock Star Designers challenged us to make a monochromatic card.  - Great challenge, Deonna!

Here is my card
I made a fairly simple card with a meaningful sentiment called Wishing you......  It is actually a Happy Birthday sentiment at the bottom of the sentiment, but I wanted to use this as a wedding card so I masked off the Happy Birthday part.

Why don't you join us in Deonna's challenge, make a monochromatic card and link it on Wendy's blog, The House That Stamps Built and your name will be entered into a drawing for a nice gift certificate from Repeat Impressions.

Classy Cards 'n Such Scenic Challenge

Good Morning, Joy here today showing you a card for the Classy Cards 'n Such Challenge #33  , which is to make a card with a Scenic View with either stamps or die cuts.  I used a Stamp from Our Daily Bread called Path of Life.  I inked up the image with Versamark, sprinkled on some Sparkle 'n Sprinkle Black Embossing Powder and embossed.  I use this brand because it is so fine that even the smallest details will pop out when heated up.  I used a Tim Holtz Water Brush  and Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color the scene.  I pressed each color, one at a time, onto the non-stick small kraft sheet that came in my Susan's Garden Tool Kit.  I love this little sheet - it's the perfect size, easy to clean up and my desk is less crowded than if I pulled out my big sheet.

The next step was to spritz a little Silk Glimmer Mist on top of the ink pressed onto the mat. I used this instead of water because it does not add much color to the inks, but sure gives a beautiful sparkle and glimmer.

After painting, I cut the scene out with the Spellbinders Matting Basics A.  These create perfect layers and make for quick matting.  I stamped the little sentiment "Dear Friend" from Hugs & Kisses by JustRite Stamps on to one of the little labels from the Teramo Die Set from Memory Box.  A little piece of ribbon was added and attached onto a card base.  Below you will find a summary of supplies used from Classy Cards 'n Such.

Stamps:
Path of Life by Daily Bread
Hugs & Kisses by JustRite

Dies:
Matting Basics A by Spellbinders
Teramo Die Set by Memory Box

Other:
Black Embossing Powder by Sparkle 'n Sprinkle
Water Brush by Tim Holtz
Distress Ink Pads by Tim Holtz
Susan's Garden Tool Kit - small kraft sheet
Silk Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels

Thank you for looking at my card - have a HAPPY stamping day.

Classy Cards 'n Such Lilac Festival

Hi, it's Joy today here and time for another wonderful challenge from Classy Cards 'n Such.  This week it is called Lilac Festival.  The challenge is to use lilac, lavender, purple or purple colors with neutrals of cream and white.  Here is my card....

I had the opportunity to attend a workshop in California called The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape.  This is an event that has been held every year for the last 13 years.  Great paper artists lead the workshops.  This year Pam Sparks one of the designers and instructors for Memory Box dies taught a few classes and inspired this card.  I used the Memory Box dies called  Beach Sprig,  Rhone Butterfly Wings, Pavilia Bloom Background with the Pavilia Bloom Outline and Massa Leaf Frame.  I lightly stenciled a chevron background with a Tim Holtz (Evergreen bough) Seasonal Ink -which are on sale at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I made a spritz of a Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn Distress Stain in a Spritz Bottle and spritzed it on top of the chevron background.  I added Baby White Pearls to the ends of the Beach Sprig and to the sequin centers.  I did not add a sentiment on the outside - that way this will go in the any occasion stack of cards.

Thanks for looking at my card - be sure to check out all the Memory Box Dies at Classy Cards 'n Such. Just looking will inspire you!  Have a happy stamping day!

Project of the Week for Repeat Impression#4

On the second card I used the steel piercing and the plastic canvas die - can you guess which circle I used the steel die on?  In your comments put your guess -- I'll let you know.  If you are right, I'll mail you some of the plastic canvas dies. Bird Watching with Repeat Impressions

Today Wendy has all of us Bird Watching -- so we all got our bird stamps out -- and I'm sure it was just as hard for everyone else to make a decision on which stamp to use as it was for me.  Wendy has created so many good bird stamps.  I chose Bird Song because it reminds me so much of spring and I went with a "Tim Holtz" distress look. The sentiment Happy Birthday is from the Quartet Compliments Series - one of my favorites because of the script.  Here is my card:
It would be great if you would join us in the Bird Watching challenge.  Simple, simple, simple, just go to Wendy's blog, The House That Stamps Built,http://www.repeatimpressions.com/index.html see the guidelines, make a card and post it on her blog.  Who knows? Maybe yours will be the random name drawn for a nice gift certificate.  Here are the other Rock Stars who have made projects to inspire you.

Happy Mother's Day at Classy Cards 'n Such

Flowers for Mother's Day

It's Joy here, Today we are celebrating Mother's at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Beverly, the owner of Classy Cards 'n Such challenged us to make Mother's Day cards and here is mine.  This will be sent to my mom's best friend who treated us like her own kids while we were growing up.

These flowers were made from the dies Build A Flower 2 and Build a Flower 1 for the leaves.  These dies were cut out of old pattern tissue paper.  The flower parts were colored using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Inks.   I also used a frame die from Honey Blossom Frame. From this die I cut the flower vine off and used it to add some dimension.  I sprayed the two vines with a little Silk Glimmer Mist to lighten and give a little sparkle to the vines.  The Happy Mothers Day Sentiment is by Hugs and Kisses Sentiments by JustRite was stamped onto one of the tags in the paper set called The Lake House by Kaiser Kraft.  I popped this up with a few Small Joy Foam Pads.   The background flower vine paper is also from The Lake House.
