Project of the Week from Repeat Impresssions

Wendy owner of Repeat Impressions asked me to do a Project of the Week and I jumped at the opportunity.    I have a confession - I do not color very well (that's a understatement).  But I've found a way to achieve coloring that suits me - it's watercoloring - because I don't have to be exact and I can color outside the lines and it's ok!

So my Project of the Week is watercoloring with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  These inks have a translucent quality that is perfect for watercoloring - but they are in pads - so today I'll show you how you can use Distress Inks to obtain the results you want.

Here are the supplies we are going to use:
Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Heat Gun
Black Embossing powder
Water color paper (found these on clearance at HL - yeah!)
Stamp called Bass Harbor large  (one of my favorite places in Maine)
Sentiment stamp called Maine - the way life should be
Water paint brush
acrylic block

Stamp image onto the textured side of watercolor paper with Staz-on black ink, cover with black embossing powder, shaking off excess and heat set
Spray water on block and mix with Distress Ink gathered on water brush.
Start with lighter colors, mixing colors as needed
Mat with light blue and dark blue (colors of Maine!)

Here is my card.  This card took less than 20 minutes - because I don't have to be exact in coloring. Quick and Easy!

Be sure to check out the other Rock Star Designers' projects each week. Remember  Repeat Impressions has a challenge every week that you can join in and have a chance to win some fabulous prizes. You can find the challenges every Wednesday at The House That Stamps Built. We love to see what you create.

Thank you for looking at my card - have a HAPPY stamping day!

Designers Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions

Today at Repeat Impressions Cheri, one of the Rock Star Designers challenged us with a "flower show".  Repeat Impressions have so many flower images, it was difficult to decide which one and what technique.   I finally settled on Daffodils and the sweet sentiment called A friend knows......

I watercolored it with a little paint set and used my vagabond to cut out the painted image and the card base.

Here is the list of other Rock Star Design Team Members who made projects to inspire you.

Classy Cards 'n Such Rainbow Challenge

Hi, Joy today showing you a card I made with supplies from Classy Cards 'n Such.  I will be taking a card class next week and it's goal is to show how to make clean and simple cards.  I got a few supplies from Classy Cards 'n Such in preparation for the class.  Here is a "clean and simple" card.
I used 2 of the cloud dies from Memory Box called Puffy Clouds and the scallop border is from Blueprints 4 from My Favorite Things.  This little scallop is the perfect size for cards. Some of the paper is from a 6x6 pad called Secret Garden by Graphic 45.   The sentiment is from Just Rite Stamps called Old Friends.  (by the way, it is on a fantastic sale!!)  The clouds were texturized with the Lattice Embossing Folder by Crafts Too.  The sentiment and the large cloud were popped up using Joy Foam Dots.

Hopefully this clean and simple rainbow card will inspire you to make a Rainbow card and join our challenge.  Be sure to check out all the details on Beverly's blog, Classy Cards n' Such Blog.

I'll let you know how the class goes - have a HAPPY stamping day!

I stamped the image on velum and colored the backside with copics, then mounted it on a pieces of blue cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed on another piece of vellum.

We would love to see what you would do with this image.  Make a project with this sketch and link it on Wendy's blog, The House That Stamps Built and you might be the randomly drawn name and win a nice gift certificate from Repeat Impressions.  The following is the list of Rock Star Designers who have made projects to get your creative juices flowing!

Susan's Gardens Challenge from Classy Cards 'n Such

When I heard the challenge from Classy Cards 'n Such would be to use a flower from Susan's Gardens Dies, I was so excited.  These are quality dies that help you make the most beautiful flowers that can be used on lots of different projects.

I made a little box for a bracelet I made my granddaughter.
First, a little match type box was made using the Mini Scor-Buddy.  Then flower parts were cut using the Lily from Susan's Garden.  To texturized the individual petals and the leaves, I used the medium ball stylus from the Susan's Garden Tool Kit.  This tool kit was purchased because it  has a moulding pad and a leaf pad.  There is another version of the tool kit called Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and it has a cute carrying case.  The flower was quickly assembled on top of a separate piece of card stock in case I messed up the flower, I would not need to do another box. - Next time I won't to this because the flower assembly was so quick and easy.  I used a Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Marker to make the little freckles in the petals.  Before the stamen was glued in the center, the tips were dipped in a little glue and then dipped into some flower soft.  The Art Institute Adhesive is one of the best around for assembling these flowers and is perfect for the flower soft.

I love doing these flowers - they can be used for so many projects.  I saw a wreath made from  different Susan's Garden dies - it was heavenly!

Project Supplies:

Mini Scor-Buddy
Lily from Susan's Garden
Susan's Garden Tool Kit or Paper Blossoms Tool Kit
Tim Holtz Distres Marker
Art Institute Adhesive

Now - I'm off to make a few more of these beauties - have a happy stamping day!
