Project of the Week for Repeat Impression#4

Hi -- today I get to do Project of the Week for Repeat Impression!  It is going to be paper piecing - so here we go.

There are several way to paper pierce - Tim Holtz has a ruler that has tiny little holes (#1 pic)
#1

sometimes you can find steel dies that paper pierce (#2 pic)

#2

or you can use plastic canvas templates (#3 pic)

The canvas templates are very cheap, come in many sizes and shapes.  I find that they are easy to line up.

Here are two cards made
and
On the second card I used the steel piercing and the plastic canvas die - can you guess which circle I used the steel die on?  In your comments put your guess -- I'll let you know.  If you are right, I'll mail you some of the plastic canvas dies. (I have plenty to share) - Please leave your email, so I let you know.

Thanks for looking at my project. - Supplies for the cards:

Bird Watching with Repeat Impressions

Today Wendy has all of us Bird Watching -- so we all got our bird stamps out -- and I'm sure it was just as hard for everyone else to make a decision on which stamp to use as it was for me.  Wendy has created so many good bird stamps.  I chose Bird Song because it reminds me so much of spring and I went with a "Tim Holtz" distress look. The sentiment Happy Birthday is from the Quartet Compliments Series - one of my favorites because of the script.  Here is my card:
It would be great if you would join us in the Bird Watching challenge.  Simple, simple, simple, just go to Wendy's blog, The House That Stamps Built,http://www.repeatimpressions.com/index.html see the guidelines, make a card and post it on her blog.  Who knows? Maybe yours will be the random name drawn for a nice gift certificate.  Here are the other Rock Stars who have made projects to inspire you.

Happy Mother's Day at Classy Cards 'n Such

Flowers for Mother's Day

It's Joy here, Today we are celebrating Mother's at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Beverly, the owner of Classy Cards 'n Such challenged us to make Mother's Day cards and here is mine.  This will be sent to my mom's best friend who treated us like her own kids while we were growing up.

These flowers were made from the dies Build A Flower 2 and Build a Flower 1 for the leaves.  These dies were cut out of old pattern tissue paper.  The flower parts were colored using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Inks.   I also used a frame die from Honey Blossom Frame. From this die I cut the flower vine off and used it to add some dimension.  I sprayed the two vines with a little Silk Glimmer Mist to lighten and give a little sparkle to the vines.  The Happy Mothers Day Sentiment is by Hugs and Kisses Sentiments by JustRite was stamped onto one of the tags in the paper set called The Lake House by Kaiser Kraft.  I popped this up with a few Small Joy Foam Pads.   The background flower vine paper is also from The Lake House.

Repeat Impressions Sketch Day

Hello - I'm hoping everyone is enjoying spring in their backyard!  I look out my window and see so much green and ear birds - it's very pleasant here today in East Texas.   Today Wendy, owner of Repeat Impressions challenged the Rock Star Design Team Members to this sketch
and here is my take on her sketch
For those in Maine this is Lupines, for us here in Texas there are bluebonnets.  But I must say that the lupines of Maine are GIANT compared to our bluebonnets.  I'm hoping that when I visit starting next month they lupines are still blooming.

Classy Cards 'n Such Garden Party

Lady Bug in the Garden

Hello friends, it's Joy today posting a card.  Beverly, owner of Classy Cards 'n Such has the perfect challenge for this time of the year!  I love gardens, flowers and the tiny little creatures you find - ladybugs, butterflies and little bunnies.  Here is my Garden Party Card.

Here are the supplies if you want to create one similar to this.  The background paper is from Vintage Bliss by Simple Stories and the pink and the yellow polka dot is called Soft Shades Double Dot by BoBunny.  I embossed the pink dot with Anna Griffin's Matisse embossing folder, made a medallion with the flower patterned paper, die cut a Picot Edge Circle by Spellbinders and a plain circle stamped with a greeting from Ornate Frame Sentiments by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I also used a tiny flourish from the stamp set  Live, Love, Laugh Vintage Labels Two by JustRite Stamps to balance the sentiment.  There are many stamp sets at Classy Cards 'n Such that have these cute little flourishes - just what is need sometimes to balance out your sentiments.

What is a garden without a ladybug?  So in the right hand corner I put one, looking for a flower.  The ladybug is from Lovely Lady Bugs by Memory Box.  It has 2 sizes and are a perfect little addition to any project -- and sooooo inexpensive.

Classy Card's 'n Such Music Challenge

Hi, Joy here today.  This week Beverly, owner of Classy Cards 'n Such challenged us to use a music theme in our projects.  We could use die cuts, sheet music or music notes.  What a fun challenge!  Here is my card:
I stamped the Garden Rose from B Line Designs on a piece of music designer paper.  I then used Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet,  Bundled Sage  and Peeled Paint distress markers by Tim Holtz  to color - I love these markers.  Shading is to easy to achieve and I like the look.  Then used the die from Spellbinders called Labels Twenty-five and Teramo Labels.  The Happy Birthday sentiment which I shaded with ink on a Mini Ink Blending Tool is from Ornate Frame Sentiments by Our Daily Bread Designs.  This is a fabulous stamp set to add to your collection - it has so many stamps and beautiful scrip in several different sizes.

Dies:

Classy Cards 'n Such Die Cuts Challenge

I hope spring is coming to your part of the country.  Our azaleas and dogwoods are in full bloom and it is beautiful in East Texas.

Hi, Joy today showing you how I met Classy Cards 'n Such Die Cuts Challenge - with supplies from Classy Cards 'n Such.  I have a Circut and a Silhouette, but rarely get them out because I love using my Vagabond for die cuts.

Here is my card

I cut two flower vine die cuts from Anna Griffin's Die called Flower Vine.  Both were sponged with pink and green ink.  The flowers were cut off one of the die cuts and layered on top of the other die cut with small Joy Foam Dots. This was glued onto the journal page shaped die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 4.   Tiny lace edges were cut from Allisons' Ribbons.  The sentiment was stamped on one of the Blueprints 4 dies and matted on top of another rectangle die from this set and popped up with Large Joy Foam Dots.  The sentiment stamp is from Inky Antics called Mighty Tower with the little flourish from the Spring Words Stamp Set.  The butterfly was hand cut from the Black-Eyes Susan Vintage Labels Five by JustRite, colored and attached with Joy Foam  Dots.

Here is a peek at how the layered flowers look close up.

P.S.  The Joy Foam Dots comes in two sizes - I love the small ones because they fit onto tiny areas.
The Blueprints 4 Die set has a great variety of dies (journal page, heart, lace, button, rectangles, star) - great bang for your money. The journal page die in the set is perfect if you do Simple Stories or Project Life Scrapbooking.

Thanks for looking at my card.  Have a HAPPY stamping day.

Hi - is it spring yet?  Surely it's not too far off in your area!  Joy here posting a card for Classy Cards 'n Such Silly or Funny April Fool's Day Challenge.  This gave me an opportunity to use the Stamp Set called Just Keep Calm by JustRite Stamps.  This is a giant set that has 64 images and sayings.  It has so many funny "Stay Calm" sentiments.  Here is one of them
I used Sparkle 'n Sprinkles White Embossing Powder for the frame and sentiment and cut it out with Spellbinders Nested Oval Medallion.  The ribbon is a little bit of Egg Shell Seam Binding. The paper is from a Summer Fresh 6x6 pad.  You might recognize the tiny little scallop - it comes from my favorite die called Allison's Ribbons by Cheery Lynn Designs.

Project of the Week from Repeat Impresssions

Wendy owner of Repeat Impressions asked me to do a Project of the Week and I jumped at the opportunity.    I have a confession - I do not color very well (that's a understatement).  But I've found a way to achieve coloring that suits me - it's watercoloring - because I don't have to be exact and I can color outside the lines and it's ok!

So my Project of the Week is watercoloring with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  These inks have a translucent quality that is perfect for watercoloring - but they are in pads - so today I'll show you how you can use Distress Inks to obtain the results you want.

Here are the supplies we are going to use:
Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Heat Gun
Black Embossing powder
Water color paper (found these on clearance at HL - yeah!)
Stamp called Bass Harbor large  (one of my favorite places in Maine)
Sentiment stamp called Maine - the way life should be
Water paint brush
acrylic block

Stamp image onto the textured side of watercolor paper with Staz-on black ink, cover with black embossing powder, shaking off excess and heat set
Spray water on block and mix with Distress Ink gathered on water brush.
Start with lighter colors, mixing colors as needed
Mat with light blue and dark blue (colors of Maine!)

Here is my card.  This card took less than 20 minutes - because I don't have to be exact in coloring. Quick and Easy!

Be sure to check out the other Rock Star Designers' projects each week. Remember  Repeat Impressions has a challenge every week that you can join in and have a chance to win some fabulous prizes. You can find the challenges every Wednesday at The House That Stamps Built. We love to see what you create.

Thank you for looking at my card - have a HAPPY stamping day!

Today at Repeat Impressions Cheri, one of the Rock Star Designers challenged us with a "flower show".  Repeat Impressions have so many flower images, it was difficult to decide which one and what technique.   I finally settled on Daffodils and the sweet sentiment called A friend knows......

I watercolored it with a little paint set and used my vagabond to cut out the painted image and the card base.

Here is the list of other Rock Star Design Team Members who made projects to inspire you.

Hopefully this clean and simple rainbow card will inspire you to make a Rainbow card and join our challenge.  Be sure to check out all the details on Beverly's blog, Classy Cards n' Such Blog.

Susan's Gardens Challenge from Classy Cards 'n Such

When I heard the challenge from Classy Cards 'n Such would be to use a flower from Susan's Gardens Dies, I was so excited.  These are quality dies that help you make the most beautiful flowers that can be used on lots of different projects.

I made a little box for a bracelet I made my granddaughter.
First, a little match type box was made using the Mini Scor-Buddy.  Then flower parts were cut using the Lily from Susan's Garden.  To texturized the individual petals and the leaves, I used the medium ball stylus from the Susan's Garden Tool Kit.  This tool kit was purchased because it  has a moulding pad and a leaf pad.  There is another version of the tool kit called Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and it has a cute carrying case.  The flower was quickly assembled on top of a separate piece of card stock in case I messed up the flower, I would not need to do another box. - Next time I won't to this because the flower assembly was so quick and easy.  I used a Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Marker to make the little freckles in the petals.  Before the stamen was glued in the center, the tips were dipped in a little glue and then dipped into some flower soft.  The Art Institute Adhesive is one of the best around for assembling these flowers and is perfect for the flower soft.

I love doing these flowers - they can be used for so many projects.  I saw a wreath made from  different Susan's Garden dies - it was heavenly!

Project Supplies:

Mini Scor-Buddy
Lily from Susan's Garden
Susan's Garden Tool Kit or Paper Blossoms Tool Kit
Tim Holtz Distres Marker
Art Institute Adhesive

Now - I'm off to make a few more of these beauties - have a happy stamping day!
